Christian Birth Affirmations

I came across the concept of birth affirmations while researching natural labor and I loved it. The only problem was that the affirmations I found online were very centered on me: my body, my power, my natural know-how. I knew I needed to rely on God and not my own strength, so I made a list of my own Bible-based birth affirmations.  I thought about reading these aloud on a recording that I could listen to while on labor (as some popular methods suggest), but I ending up using them differently and it really worked for me.  Every time I had a contraction, Hubs would read one affirmation out loud and encourage me while elaborating on that one thought.
This method really helped me to focus my mind and breath through the contractions, and it helped that I had a fresh thought to focus on each time! Looking back, I think that we used these while I was transitioning - but we didn't know that at the time.

Please let me know if these are helpful to you and if you have any other affirmations that you would add!

God has given us this child and has chosen the perfect time to bring him into the world.

My body is fearfully and wonderfully made, and it is designed to give birth.

God has given me all the strength I need for this moment.

My son has a calling on his life.

I chose to rest in a peace that surpasses understanding.

I receive the birth of my son with joy and peace.

Each surge (contraction) brings us a little closer to an answered prayer and a fulfilled promise.

I did not conceive in my own strength and I do not labor in my own strength. I rely fully on God.

I am more than a conqueror.

I am surrounded with love and prayers from family and friends.

This is the first day of an amazing new adventure with the love of my life.

When it's most uncomfortable, I am the most relaxed and at peace with the process of birth. (paraphrase of a Bradley method affirmation)

Tomorrow none of the discomfort will matter anymore.

I can keep fighting because I know I will overcome.

  4. Just what I was looking for. Its not like there is specific labor/birthing scripture in the bible but the concept of relying on Gods strength and praising and glorifying him are all a part of it. So glad I found these it puts into words what I was thinking.
