8 Products for a Better Pregnancy - Naturally!

*This post contains affiliate links. Thank you for your support!*

During my past and current pregnancies, I have come to rely on a few products to help me stay as healthy and comfortable as possible - without turning to medications if I can avoid it. Keep reading for my 8 favorites!

Sea Bands

I'm one of those who doesn't like to take medications unless they are totally necessary.  I discovered Sea-Bands this pregnancy, and I wish I had known about them when I was pregnant with Z! They really helped to take the edge off my morning sickness without medication - especially when I wasn't able to snack consistently (like while leading worship or while sleeping).  Seriously, sleeping with these on made my nights much more bearable.

Gins-Gins

These strong little Gin Gins Original Chewy Ginger Candies have been a life safer in both my pregnancies.  Ginger is a natural nausea remedy that, in my experience, really works! They are a bit more discrete than carrying a gingerale and crackers around to your staff meetings or playdates, and they're just plain yummy. They do tend to get stuck in your teeth if you chew them, but I think letting them dissolve slowly is better for nausea anyhow.

Natural Calm

Natural Calm is a vegan, GMO-free, drinkable magnesium supplement that I make sure to have on hand and drink daily throughout pregnancy.  A midwife recommended it to me to combat constipation, stress, insomnia, and even those annoying leg cramps that take you from deep sleep to jumping out of bed in.03 seconds. Although I don't quite understand why, it also seems to help my sciatica that frequently wakes me up in the night. I always drink it right before bed to help me gear down and sleep soundly.

Boppy Pregnancy Pillow

When you're pregnant sometimes you need all the help you can get to sleep comfortably, especially if you have pre-existing back and hip pain like I do.  I love this particular pillow because I can either use the whole thing, or just use certain pieces to fit my needs (which change as the pregnancy progresses). Plus, it helps me stay comfortably on my left side (as recommended).

Water Bottle

A great water bottle makes it easier to stay hydrated and track your water consumption while avoiding nasty plastic chemicals and creating needless waste. I am personally a big fan of this one because of the BPA-free materials (glass with bamboo lid).  Plus, the top stays on securely so I can toss it into a purse or diaper bag with no worries of leaking, it's narrow enough to fit in a standard cup holder, and its nifty top loop makes it a cinch to carry when my hands are full or even hang on a stroller hook. It's pretty too. :)

Exercise Ball

An exercise ball is a wonderful tool for prenatal workouts and can even be used in labor! After baby arrives, you'll have a great way to kick-start getting your core strength back! I'm currently using mine along with a prenatal Pilates app.

Pregnancy Safe Teas

Bengal Spice Tea - I can't tell you how many boxes of this stuff I sent through in my first trimester alone. It's somwewhat similar to chai in flavor, caffeine free, and doesn't contain any licorice root, hibiscus, or any other plants or herbs that are known to be hazardous during pregnancy.

Once I'm in my third trimester, I like to start drinking red raspberry leaf tea, which causes minor uterine contractions. That's not a good thing in early pregnancy, but in the third trimester it's a great way to give your uterus a workout and help it prepare for the big day! Please consult your doctor or midwife before use.

Raw Almonds

Raw almonds are not only a healthy snack with an equally excellent amounts of protein and carbs, they are also a wicked natural antacid! Keep a small bag of them around and eat a handful before meals or whenever heartburn starts to rear its ugly little head. For best results, make sure you're using raw, unsalted almonds and chew them up really well.

What natural prenatal hacks have you discovered? I'd love for you to share them in the comments!

  2. I tried Sea Band Mama this time, but sadly they were so tight that it hurt and I couldn't wear them. Maybe I have very big wrists! I appreciate the other recommendations though, as I haven't heard of them all :-)

    1. I had the same issue with the Sea Bands at first, but they helped so much I kept wearing them and they eventually did stretch out a bit. I hope some of the other things I listed will work better for you!
